V6 Misfire and racing

Post by francisvincent » Mon Jul 22, 2019 10:37 am

Morning All - Hope someone can help..

V6 running on petrol only developed quite a misfire. Having read through this forum, I changed the air filter for under a tenner and was back in business.

Bongo ran well for a couple of weeks, but now a lesser misfire has developed on startup. The van also races a bit. I have cleaned the new air filter just in case, but that hasn't solved the problem this time.

Worth noting that if I rev the engine a couple of times after startup and before pulling away, all runs well till the next time I stop. Whatever is causing the problem, seems to be cleared with a handful of throttle....

Any thoughts ?

Many Thanks....

Quite a few things can cause mis-firing, but it might be worth checking out/cleaning the throttle body given that it seems to have an effect

You can see my other post on a similar issue I had.

The lamda probe was placed but also rotor arm and HT leads. It was one of these causing the issue for me.
