Need some eyes here on my front blower system. So upon first inspection, found that the connector between the front blower and its grounding wire were disconnected, but then also noticed that the female connector was melted and warped from previous owner. Not sure if this was a case of someone trying to shove the two connectors together and them shorting out or something else.
Anyhow, aligned the female prongs back and connected to the male connector and fan still doesn't work, except on highest setting comes on for a couple seconds pretty weak and then stops.
So I took the blower components out an apart, and have some questions about my findings.
1) The Fan Motor, looks like it has a large drainage hole so assuming someone has replaced this previously. After opening up the fan motor, one of the brushes was not contacting the centre piece it rubs on, so that must be one of the issues. Secondly, I can smell a faint burnt smell within the motor at all times and the copper wires are mostly coated in black. Is this an indication of a bad overheated fan? Lastly, When trying to spin the motor, is does not spin very nicely, it spins for about 2 seconds but comes to a stop, is there not a bearing at the base of this that can be oiled, or does it just spin within the lower aluminum casing?
2) I removed the fan resistor unit, and am not quite sure how to test it. Any recommendations are appreciated, with testing the three prongs, what setting on the multimeter I should use? I also lifted up the circuit board and there is alot of corrosion under there and it looks like one of the connectors soldering is disconnected.
Here are some pictures of what im talking about, because that probably didn't make sense
