Fast forward six years and we’ve added another 300,000 to the clock but got some rust issues, the usual wheelarches which we had our apprentice patch up with filler as a bit of an exercise, the plan was to get another couple of years out of it…

Well we got another five years and another 100,000 but there were now some big problems lurking, the rusty arches from five years ago were indicative that the underside wasn’t far behind, and so it proved…

So we had a choice to make. Scrap it or have it repaired somewhere that knew what they were doing…

Ok this wasn’t cheap but top marks to Bongo Spares near Halifax in West Yorkshire, a really nice job that will hopefully see us through another few years. First camping expedition of the new era starts on Friday this week!
Of course the whole of the conversion had to come out to avoid setting the van on fire during the welding (that’s why five years ago we opted for a filler repair), George did suggest that next time that conversion had to come out it should be removed with a sledgehammer...

PS we’ve no association with Bongo Spares, just a bit of a plug for a job well done
