V6 51 plate ABS control unit location

Post by Flingwing Van Man » Fri Nov 23, 2018 1:44 pm

Hi All,
my van is intermittently showing the ABS light on, the fault code shows up as front left and rear right sensor fault, when the resistance was checked these were deemed as working Ok.
Next stop would be to check the control unit itself.......No problem! it should be easy to get to under the dash in passenger foot well. Hmmm! I knew it sounded too simple, as when everything was removed to gain access there it was NOT!

Apparently that was it's location up until 99' ...... ( We can't even follow the wiring to trace it's location as they disappear into the main loom)

Has anyone on this forum any idea as to where it's location may be? [-o<

From the 1999 onwards the control unit appears to be in with the relays themselves in the unit under the bonnet see here http://www.g8dhe.net/bwm/bwmanualp.htm?1999/Page_119 - you will need to enable Flash each time if using Chrome that now ignores your wishes.

Thank you for the Link Geoff,

Just back from holiday so thought I'd have a look at the link, very helpful but using google translate I still couldn't locate whereabouts of the control unit! I can only conclude that it is now incorporated within the actual ABS Pump unit as there is a large wiring loom connected via a multi plug connector ( a lot of wires for just a pump control me-thinks ? :? )

I contacted one of the Bongo specialist garages to get a quote, just in case this was where my problem stemmed from........reply £500  So before shelling out this sum of money I was hoping to confirm the location of the control unit ( Garage wasn't sure it was located there or not?)

Once again many thanks for your assistance.

P.s. I think She knows all this work is because I'm preparing to sell Her and She don't want to go :-({|=
