Rear crossmember

There are many front crossmembers available but zilch for the rear... The corners are gone upto and past chassis leg ends, so therefore the remaining middle section of it will be gone too...so, stop me if there is another solution but I am building my own entire crossmember for the rear from scratch.. The plan is to unpick the lip where the rubber sits, remove corner cups, cut chassis legs back 3 inches, this should give plenty of room... Looking at the overlapping panel welds very closely it seems like an impossible task but it can be done.
Anyone else made one in the past? Maybe worth making a template and going down the route of making many... There will be a demand for these very soon.
Any thoughts?

Yip a very good Idea, there is always a demand for this sort of thing, it would be interesting if you could cost the part.

I agree with 'doing a proper job' when the vehicle is a keeper. A record with photo's of how you go about this would be great.
