Urgent: break pads and disks in France

Post by barbapapa » Sat Aug 04, 2018 7:42 am

Hi all, I am in a very difficult situation. My brakes pads are dead both front and rear.

The disks seems to also be dead.

I went to a garage but the only one ready to help could not figure out what was the pad model needed.

I looked the forum but found too much information.

Is there someone that could give me the part number I need to tell the garage?

I need to cross France back to Scotland in few days :(

Thanks in advance

A search on ebay for 'bongo brakes pads' brings up loads of stuff. Bongo shop on here sells all the stuff too. Hope you get sorted.

Euro Car Parts sell them too and the site even recognises the reg number.

That may not help you get them directly but might just get you a part number

Good luck

As well as above info Bongo Spares supply and ship new parts:

Ian is away until Tuesday morning but I'm pretty certain he will ship abroad. 8)

Hi all, thanks for your quick replies.

I went to a garage Saturday and they told me to come back today since they could not find the model in their database and finding pieces on a Saturday would be too much luck (they told me). They will measure the size and find matching pieces.

Hopefully they will not charge too much and have the pieces in time.

I ll mention the fact that I could order the pieces myself if needed.

In the worst case (assuming nothing else happen :D ), I ll miss my return boat to the uk and my children will miss the first days of school.

Wish me luck :)

Hi barbapapa,
Try using the LushProjects parts diagrams to locate the parts you need, then put the part number into google. For instance, rear pad set (49-280A) shows interchangeability with a number of different Mazda & Isuzu part numbers. Good hunting!!

Bad news, they cannot find matching parts,

I contacted bongospare but it does not have the rear disks in stock.

Is that one compatible with the bongo diesel 1999 : https://m.ebay.fr/itm/Rear-brake-disc-s ... =R40&rt=nc

Pretty sure Bongo brakes are standard accross all models so they should be fine. :)

Good luck getting back on time. [-o<

Are your disks actually shot? It's rare forbthem all to need doing at once. Disks rust on the unswept area and may look worse than they are. I'd go for the pads to get you home and have it looked at again unless they are cracked or warped.

We're on the same page again Bonneville. It would be extremely bad luck for all brake pads to wear out at exactly the same time and gouge all four disks to pieces.
