I'll defer to Alacrity but these clutches are like those found in a motorcycle (plate-steel-plate-steel sandwich). Getting to it is basically a rebuild as you'd want to do the bushes and valve body while you're in there and really needs a specialist.
I'm guessing but I think the gearbox is the JR405E variant as shown in that video above. The component parts for that are here:
https://www.automaticchoice.com/uploads ... jr405e.pdf
Rebuild kits may not have the correct number of plates etc but here are examples:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Transmaxx-45 ... Sw4A5YycQ9
http://www.transmissionpartsus.com/RC4A-ELkits.html
A specialist will be able to cross reference the UM100 properly unlike the Inspector Morse job I'm doing here...

Hello knpennyknpenny wrote: Fri Jul 20, 2018 5:41 pm Thanks for the response brian, I'll give em a bell. I did at first think it was a selection issue, but I'll get more info before deciding what to do![]()
If your doing a big tour round france and like landscape stuff then you should definitely visit Les Voges, franche-comte and jura. Lovely country France and its been a good atmosphere recently after they won the world cup![]()
I see your getting some really good information so let's hope it can get sorted , are there any auto specialists local to you there in France ? Obviously alacrity is the man when it comes to gearboxes but I would have thought that old auto boxes must be simple enough for specialists to work on , not me and you though

It might be worth taking the box out and sending it to alacrity to rebuild or I wonder if he can do it on an exchange bases ?
These are only my random thoughts and only if the box gets worse .
As it happens we have been in Franche Comte before and are planning on going there again on this trip !

The rough plan is to go to Alsace and go from there down to Beaujolais , maybe even get some wine

Any please in your opinion that we really should not miss ?

That's a good question. I wonder if a specialist would rebuild the box without it being in the vehicle to test? Bongo box is so easy to get out and you could take off the bellhousing and tail to make it smaller and a little bit lighter for shipping.Merlot man wrote: Sat Jul 21, 2018 6:06 pm It might be worth taking the box out and sending it to alacrity to rebuild or I wonder if he can do it on an exchange bases ?
Re: abnormal 1st to 2nd gear change. 2.0 petrol autobox
thanks merlot, i'll try to track alacrity down and see if thats possible. I do have a gearbox specialist at work and as an employee i get 75% off work and i'd have to track the parts down.
But i think i'll try alacrity first. Does anyone know the name of his work and possibly have a number?
As for places, there's belfort in alsace and you're not too far from les voges mountains, they're quite nice, in franche-comte you have Besançon with the citadel, i'm literally 5 mins from it, a one and half hour drive to Clairvaux-les-lacs with a great campsite right next to le grand lac de clairvaux, the lake is stunning. Lac chalain and saint-point next to pontalier. Consulation du maisonettes which is an old monestary with some epic walks and the sources of the rivers of franche-comte, just look for signs saying source du .....
hope that helps

Cheers teenmal, thats the one i was looking at.
Merlot man, if i was going to choose one it would have to be campind du/le grand lac, it has a swimming pool and direct access to the beach, and about 15m from the diving boards, there's a great resteraunt next door and the lovely blond girl on the desk at reception speaks good english too, you also get access to the campsite next door which most importantly has the bar
They have showers and toilets on site, electrical hookup as standard and water posts at every corner.
the beach also has a sectioned off part for safe swimming if you have kids. its about 10mins walk from town and there's also a great take-away pizza place there.
Make sure you take a toilet seat with you as campsite toilets in france dont have toilet seats in them
Hope this info helps. Let me know when you'll be at clairvaux les lacs and i'll try get down. i'm free every weekend and have already been to clairvaux twice, i only discovered it 3 weeks ago but is by far the best one i've been to in france so far.
It'd be nice to see another bongo here, might be the start of a bongo invasion. I've had a few people, mostly dutch come up too me in the sites very interesed in the bongo, they think its cool cos they've never seen one before

Hello knpenny
Just on the ferry now about to leave for France
I'd would be nice to see another bongo to be fair !
We have been to France 3 times so far ( 6 weeks in total ) in the bongo and have yet to see another so you can imagine how impressed I was with the bongo bash !!
If we make it to that area and to the site I'll pm you if you don't mind , plans are a bit fluid at the minute
How are you progressing with your gearbox grimlins ?
All the best
