Shoddy MOT Repair

Post by rawlins » Sat Jul 21, 2018 6:32 pm

Hey Folks,

Had my other half's old girl in for MOT on Thursday, picked up a couple of failures:

1) Fluid leaking continuously, posing a risk to road safety.

This was the fuel pump seals, we knew about before sending it in. So was expecting this to be picked up.

2) Suspension component attachment bracket/mounting corroded and seriously weakened.

This was never picked up on any previous MOT, so I was a little more surprised, but they're old cars. The guy on the phone said it needed a "little bit of welding" and all would be good.

She paid over the phone this morning - £820 including the VAT, they were closing at lunch so they left the key for me. Went to pick the van up this afternoon and this is the state of what I find.

Both this hacked welding job, on external bodywork, overspray all over the place. AND the fuel pump is still pissing fuel.

I'm speechless. I don't quite know where to begin to tackle this, beyond belief.

This is where you need to go, ASAP and include as many photos as you can.

That's awful. He's even managed to blow a hole in the corner.

I think your welder has arc-eye and may be blind.

Did you at least get an MOT out of it? I'm not one of life's complainers but if you do, there's every chance they'll offer to do it again and you'll end up with worse.
