Help urgent!! - fuel pump washer

Post by berrega » Sun Jan 31, 2010 6:38 pm

I took the bango connector of the fuel pump and the washer (closest to the pump) dropped off and fell into the engine bay.

I have spent all day looking for it, but it has vanished.

Obviously the van is now unusable, without the washer, diesel leaks out.

What do I do????

The washer appears to have a internal diameter of 11.5mm

how can find a replacement? or am i just totally screwed?

(I'm really not having a good time with my Bongo...)

It's probably on the engine undertray - that's where most things end up

There a open metal tube which looks like its part of the shassy.

I think its fallen into that :-(

I've spent hours looking in the undertray and I cant see it.

Its a fly by wire fuel pump.
are all washers on the banjo connector the same,
or is the one that butts up to the pump thinnner?

My friend made me a washer, but when we put it on the
no fuel got to the engine...

Thanks for everyones help.

Turns out I just needed enough light to spot it in the engine undertray.

Actually its becuase of you that I found it.
I had given up and had decided to focus my efforts on getting a replacement part.

However, when I read your post, I decided to have faith that it was actually there, but that I hadent seen it.

What hadn't occured to me yesturday through the haze of stress was that washers are inclined to roll on impact :-)

Top tip, if you ever work on a car on a gravel drive... always spead out an old sheet to catch these essential bits when you drop them. Been there done that. 5 min to do the job and an hour looking for the bit I dropped in the gravel
