Aft staying up !!

Post by TobyT » Tue May 08, 2018 12:51 pm

Just spent few hrs messing with switches wiring etc on our Bongo.
Couldn't understand it ???? Its been going up n down fine over last few weeks then today lowered it down then back up to pull inner roof hatch over and switched to close and nothing !!! I went through all the checks and nothing !!! I was just about to take rear o/s panel off when squeezing past I grabbed one of the struts and it pulled down a fraction !!! I thought never do went to other side n did the same !!! Bingo roof closed beautifully.
Not being an expert n knowing bugger all about Bongos I guess the struts had somehow gone too far and stopped via a failsafe or something.
Anyhow top down bofore it rains 😊😊😎😎

Possible theory: today is hotter, tent material is softer, lifting motors able to push roof up a little further. Not sure where to take the theory after that but......Bongo electrical switches etc known to get flaky as they get dirty etc with age and/or lack of use.

Excellent theory Sir !!! The Aft has beet up for 3 days "airing" only lowered it due to impending rain this afternoon.
As you say after the initial lowering the roof must have gone a little too far and 'bobs yer uncle' won't lower.Wish I'd thought of it hrs earlier as now got to replace brittle plastic covers removed for no reason, that'll be done tomorrow as I'm buggered and need my afternoon meds. 😊😊😎😎
