Hi all,
I need to replace the ECU in my 1995 petrol V6.
Firstly I need to get to the ECU to read the numbers on it so I can order the correct replacement.
I need to access it and it looks like I'm going to have to remove the glove box area of the dashboard??
Any advice, guidance, tips would be warmly welcomed????
Any good sources for ECU's would also be appreciated.
Thanks.
Tony.

Just need to drop the glove box out, open it, empty it of bits, press each side panel inwards and pull down to release the rubber stops, then lower the whole glove box down to release from hinges.

How do you know the ECU is at fault, without having reached it yet ?

Thanks. Glove box out.
Definitely the ECU based on engine/gearbox behaviour and 'hold' light issue.
So, next question .... is it the one at A or B (behind the red/white/blue junction boxexs) ??

Um ... There are two separate computers making up what your terming the "ECU" they are the PCM and the TCM, if the HOLD light is flashing its the TCM that is reporting a problem, what error code have you read out from the diagnostic socket, and what fault does that represent ?

Re: Removing the dash to replace the engine/gearbox ECU
Erm .... not done anything with a diagnostic socket?
Symptoms explained to Colin at County Cars (Portslade) who's very experienced with Bongos.
Suggestion is to replace the engine/gearbox ECU.
Symptoms are that sporadically the Bongo will pull away and remain in 3rd gear despite whatever revs we're at.
Sometimes it's fine and other times it will do this and then suddenly while driving it will rectify.
Hold light does not come on when fault is happening.

Re: Removing the dash to replace the engine/gearbox ECU
It would definitely be worth checking the diagnostics and seeing what codes it throws, it could be a simple fix.
Check out this page:

It should detail everything you need to do. I could never get the LED to work on mine, I just use a wire to bridge the two connections and the light on the dash flashes the code out.
Post back with your code and somebody might be able to help.
