Any Bongo Inspectors in South Wales?

Post by sean2306 » Fri Mar 30, 2018 4:35 pm

Hi.
I have a Bongo on order from Classic Campers, Pontypool but a member has posted that they have a a bad experience with them within the last five week in Chat "Is my Bongo just Scrap"
If anyone is able to carry out a proper inspection for me (for payment) before I hand over the cash please get in contact. I can pick you up and return if that helps as retired.Mobile is 07817302867.
Many thanks
Sean

It may well be worth paying the AA/RAC or someone like these guys:

If the vehicle isn't up to scratch this may well have more clout than just a 'mate' saying so and would possibly be a lever to get your deposit back.
Take a torch, toilet roll, and tea bags.

Many thanks for the link have sent them an enquiry as Bongos and Fredas are not on their regular listing. I had considered AA and RAC but comments on this site were not that encouraging hence the request for recommendations for organisations with experience of the peculiarities of this vehicle. Collection has been scheduled for 9th April.

I have posted in the thread you have referred to about my own experience. They do have quite a few Bongos for sale and certainly seem to move them.
Unfortunately we only seem to hear about the bad experiences on the forum and I can only recall a couple, apart from mine, over the last 2 or 3 years. (so that is quite a low percentage)
On most of their adverts (CC) they claim to replace the cam belt and fit low coolant alarms and even wheel arches. Is it a diesel or petrol? Have you taken it on a test drive? If you haven't yet then perhaps if you do instead of going "down hill" from the garage go the opposite way uphill towards Crumlin
as it is quite a long uphill drag which could be interesting or revealing. I am not an expert and I am sure there are others far more experienced than myself.
I use A&S Motor Repairs from Caerphilly for my servicing and maintenance needs, who are experts in this area. I don't think they do site visit inspections
but I am sure that Andy would give you an honest worth while report if you were able to arrange to get the vehicle there (they are also an MOT garage too).

Having read the post you allude to, if it is true which I have no reason to doubt, barge and pole springs to mind whilst you could suggest the HGF could happen at any time, the other issues the vehicle had at the point of sale would suggest prior knowledge.
