Parking in Dorset

Interesting case regarding parking in Dorset (Swanage), an incompletely converted Bongo - i.e. not registered as motorcaravan
was parked in a bay for CARs and was fined for parking as he was a "motorcaravan" however after appealing the adjudication was won as it was an incomplete conversion ...... (click image for full size screen grab);

Well worth bearing in mind for those who are not registered as "motorcaravan" but also do the wardens know how to look up whilst doing the rounds if you are registered or not ....

This seems insane. Surely parking a Bongo, which has a smaller footprint than many cars in a 'car' space, saves a much larger 'Motorhome' space for an er... much larger motorhome!
I know I tucked mine into a few tight spaces in Lyme Regis this summer

You drive out of Dorset and spend your money elsewhere!

On a sort of related topic Dorset has been the only place where I have found a Wild Camping spot (out in the country) filled to the brim! I was only able to park as I was the smallest van there and was able to drive up a small bank to one side!

Slightly off topic - parking in Aldi
Recently I visited Aldi twice in one day, and it was well over the "no return within 4 hours" and I received a PCN from Parking Eye. They had compiled my first entry with the second exit and claimed I had parked for half a day. Quite stressful but I must admit Aldi customer services eventually cancelled the PCN plus I had sent in both till receipts and a letter from the dentist confirming I had been there for treatment half way through the alleged offence.
The frustrating thing is that you cannot speak to anyone at Parking Eye and they are very arrogant and treat you as guilty. However as stated Aldi were excellent in resolving the situation. I think if I didn't have till receipts (or proof from a bank statement) then the situation would have been more difficult to resolve.

I didn't know this and will take note in Tesco, thanks for the info. and congrats on winning your argument ..... I did a little research and found a site with useful information about resisting parking charges. It might be interesting or useful to forum members http://www.parkingcowboys.co.uk/parking-eye/
