V6 Petrols

Post by windywatson » Fri Jul 07, 2017 1:49 pm

Does anyone know if the V6 uses the same engine temperature sensor for the actual temperature gauge on the dash as the one used by the ECU. Or are there 2 sensors? Reason I ask is because I've seen threads about improving the temperature gauge to be more accurate. I would have thought that if the temperature sensor was also being used by the ECU to control engine parameters that it would have to be accurate in the first place.

Cheers

Yes they use Two, a two wire ECT sensor (ECU related) and a bog standard single wire temperature sender.

The problem with the Tem gauge is not related to the sender/sensor, this problem came about when the wee auld Ladies in Japan kept complaining to Mazda (among other) that their temp gauge was going very High. In order make them Happy the car Manufacturers (Mazda etc) Doctored the actual gauges.

Good Luck.

You can doctor the gauges back to display correctly again if you wish see here http://www.g8dhe.net/bongo_images/TempG ... pgauge.pdf
