Buggy, Bikes and Storage Question

Hi All,

first time and brand new BONGO OWNER! Picked up the van two nights ago, and loving it so far.
We have 3 year old twins and all of us are going for a week's touring around the Scottish Highlands next week.

It's our only car, and we have a double buggy, and my question is this:

Has anyone ever used an external storage solution, like a Fiamma bike rack to attach a buggy to? Or stored in a tow box or anything?

Good to have you aboard.

Short answer is 'Yes'.

Quite a few use a rear box mounted on a bike rack, I'm sure there are modular systems to be had.

I think most fit on a tow bar and some will fold down to allow the tail gate to open.

Not used one myself but I'm sure peeps will be along with personal advice, and a prod at the 'Search' thingy on here should produce some archive posts and pics.

Use 'And' between key words like 'Rear and Storage and Box' and try a few various phrases.

Friends with young kids use a top box. He already had a roof rack (not just bars) fitted for surfing. I don't know if the buggy would fit in a top box. Points to be aware of:

Need to carry a ladder or collapsible bench to reach it!
Have to empty it before lifting roof (possibly take it off, I can't remember.)
No more squeezing into car parks with 2.1m height bars.
On the other hand it leaves tailgate access free.

Bear in mind the tow ball weight limit for to Bongo is 85kgs.

This includes the rack, box, and load.

Yes Bob your correct , I got it from Richard !
It's a very strong looking rack system but doesn't tilt down to access the rear door like the Thule version so it still might be worth considering the Thule especially as it can be fitted with a number of assesseries Bike rack , storage box etc ( I thought the bak rak did tilt down )

Thats bigger than expected!
We went for a Thule bike carrier which we will strap bikes and buggy to. The boxes just didnt seem necessary (or big enough for the double buggy)
