Re: Coolant alarm advice: TM1 or TM2 or something else?
First thing ...recheck the coolant level when cold. It should be on the full line...if you cannot see the level very well....dip a dry stick vertically into the tank and you should show 2cms of coolant level when COLD.
please do this and report back

Just checked the coolant level and the level, when I dipped a bamboo scewer in, measured 7cm! We have had our Bongo a while, but I am bereft of any understanding of mechanics in any shape or form
Thanks

I assume you are 'dipping' the plastic tank under the bonnet which sits at the back on the right hand side. 7 cms is to much and you need to get it down to the full line when cold....use the wife's meat baster to suck some out.
Have you recently had the coolant changed?
On the front of the tank you will find the coolant alarm sensor screw....when COLD remove the screw, get her indoors to put her finger over the hole and give the screw thread a good wire brush and then replace it,,

Leave the cap on when you remove the screw.

I think this might have fixed it
I removed the leisure battery to get to the plastic coolant tank, removed the two screws (one at a time, I did not realise the coolant alarm sensors were two metal screws attached to terminals which go into the liquid coolant!) so wire brushed the screws, which were rusted at their tips, then put it all back. Managed to remove the excess coolant by use of children's straws sellotaped together, and got a lovely mouth full of coolant to take the level back down to 2cms. Handy tip to check level if you can't see it, take another straw, and dip it in and pop your finger over the end and pull it out and measure water in straw!
Now when I turn on ignition, I now get a short sharp chirp, as apposed to the long drawn out whistling wailing which I have become used to
Everything now crossed, thank you all for your advise.
