I recon Bongy is designed as a Faraday Screen to protect electrics from lightening. 8)

They ask about jump starting from another vehicle, because its quite possible in the worst case situation to cause damage to anything electronic in nature when jump starting, so they cover themselves by having it in the T&C's.
The problem comes that when connecting / disconnecting its possible (but very low risk) to generate a very high voltage spike that can destroy electronic components, vehicle electronics are designed with this in mind but even so its not an unknown occurrence.

Hi

Firstly thanks very much for all your help with my problem I have fitted the new unit which was a new one, this was surprising as i was expecting the old one to have be repaired maybe this in its self is an indication that the old unit was faulty and nothing to do with what i may have done.
So fingers crossed.
