Yep, we can run fridge and heating on gas and the solar panel is plenty for water pumps and lighting in the evening.

Obviously we don't want to put anyone off a Bongo, but peeps here are realistic and truthful, please try before you spend a lot of money.
I've certainly wild camped in England a fair bit and never had any problem, but its just 2 able adults, and even then we tend just to make an overnight stop when travelling long distance and go on a site next night for showers, empty loo etc.
The basic farm sites are very fairly priced and the space provided by an awning or tent will be invaluable.
As many know we now have a caravan for more space, best of all worlds.

Caravan would be lovely if only I was brave enough to tow!! I like the idea of the basic farm sites I must admit.
Bear in mind towing courses are available, it would be sense to take one before towing just the same as lessons are a good idea before you drive a car.
Depending when you passed your test you may be limited to a very small van or have to take a towing test.
I think about 1996/7 is the cut off.

How do these Insurers change their terms depending which way the winds blowing?
Not sure how your chap can give you plenty of sleeping room with a side conversion. My is side, but I'm a single traveller.
Hope to see you at Stourport, then you can have a good look round. I'm at the Southern meet if you do make it there.
Marion.
It is odd with the insurance a friend of mine is with 2gether and she uses hers every day and they insured her ok and then as you say your with Lifesure and got insurance but he told me no for every day use. So confusing. I will just have to ring round a few until I get the answer I need, hopefully.

I passed my driving test so many years ago that I prefer to forget ha ha but towing is just something I have never really fancied. One of the reasons I was attracted to the Bongo was the beauty of it being the size of a larger car so that it would be ok for me on narrow country roads with pull ins that are few and far between (my husband does seem to enjoy directing me down "green lanes" which would be ok if he was the driver but he doesn't drive!!!!!

That indeed is a great appeal of the Bongo.
And with 4wd you can likely get back out of the green lane.

Well we've finally done it. A holding deposit has been put on a V6 in Caribbean Blue due into the country at the end of April although we will still have to wait for the conversion, whatever we decide. We have obviously only reserved from photos so we still have to make sure all is ok when we see it in the flesh, or should that me metal. I would like to thank every one for all your help in getting us this far. I am sure there will be lots more questions to come!!! We are sooo excited.

Thank you I was very chuffed with the colour and from the photos looks very clean inside and underneath. Just got to give her a name now. It has apparently been nicknamed by JAL as the Blue Goldfish

How about calling her DORY....then you can tell everyone that you were the one that found her...
Good luck and enjoy your Bongo experience as much as the rest of us enjoy ours.....

Oh that's a good idea I'm going to mull that one over, I think that could well be a winner

I can't wait to get out on the open road, but it's going to be a while yet, so I am going to have to be very patient.
