Ranger intercooler

Post by Bongolia » Fri Jan 20, 2017 6:40 pm

Has anyone thought about or carried out the replacement of the Bongo TD inter cooler with a Ranger 2.5 TD one?
They look very similar in the image just deeper on the Ranger.
Out of the three 5 rads I sent for testing only the taxi and bongo heater matrix came back as good. :( :(

What rads were these (Bongo ones?) and how were they being tested (flow test?)

Flow, pressure tested and cleaned unless another fault showed first except AC rad as not able to get pressure with their equipment.
Wasp inter cooler multiple leaks due to corrosion on front face.
Wasp main rad leak (minor) at lower tank seem.
Wasp AC rad corrosion on front face elements turned to dust when cleaning
Wasp front heater matrix OK
Wasp taxi cab matrix for the back OK bent spigot repaired.
Just sent over the Aero 2.0ltr rad suspected partial blockage , symptoms were collapsing lower hose and fluctuating temperature gauge when revved.
It would seem the petrol and the diesel rads are the same?

Interesting. It was the flow tests I was curious about as I'm always wondering how clogged the rads might be on old (diesel) Bongos, what with the overheating stories etc

Jeebers the Wasp will be the cleanest machine on the streets once its finally sorted. Will have to make sure I meet it one day :-)
