V6 Transmission hum
https://youtu.be/vTCO2dhfdJ4
Just wondering if any one has come across this, This hum only happens when in stop/start traffic for a while, no slip, shudder or judder and can accelerate with no problems, and goes if you ease off the throttle a tiny bit. You can hear it on the youtube clip, may have to turn the volume up a fair bit.
any thoughts much appreciated.
cheers

Re: V6 Transmission hum
Difficult to say from the video but I think I am getting it.
Is it coming from the front, box area, or more to the rear?
If I were to hazard a guess... diff.
Best you get it to a garage let them put an ear to it.

Re: V6 Transmission hum
Have you checked all your levels and replaced oils
Gear box oils ,diff oils etc
Might be a good place to start change all your oils and see
Or brakes and bearings next
The park brake is different pads from the hand brake I think
LSD DIFFS USE DIFFERENT OIL I THINK IF YOU HAVE A LSD

Re: V6 Transmission hum
Many thanks for your replies, and I was going to include the following info, such a numpty!
Transmission has had its fluid replaced, sump off and sludge removed.
Rear diff checked and levels very good.
Hard to say where the hum is coming from, sounds a bit like the transmission.
cheers

In that case I think it best if you get it to a decent mechanic/ transmission guy to put their ear on it.Our Bonnie wrote:Many thanks for your replies, and I was going to include the following info, such a numpty!

Blimey I wish my stop/start traffic did 55mph!!!
Classic diff noise I'm afraid. They can go for years like this if you can live with it & keep topped up.
