Hi folks.
Has anyone ever used Evans waterless engine coolant in their Bongo?

I believe the engine runs at a lower temperature with this coolant.
There are several variants, for classic cars, vintage cars, and modern production cars.

The advertisement claims that you would never need to change your coolant again!
With a Bongo it makes you wonder...

Re: Evans waterless engine coolants
One person reported having it done a year or more ago now, we haven't from him since ......
always struck me it would be expensive and awkward to have to carry around the fluid to top up with should you leak at any time.

Geoff's right, a search may turn up the old thread and thoughts at the time.

Cant be bad if Jay boy uses it......
Horses for courses and bags for money, if you want to buy a horse ( or any animal for that matter) make sure you can afford to keep it.
Great Stuff.

Re: Evans waterless engine coolants
I've worked with waterless collant in the past and have seen bongos with it. It does in fact run slightly hotter than water, but doesnt expand as much so doesnt produce pressure, which in turn doesnt stress the cooling system reducing the chances of pipe ruptures due to over pressure etc
There are 2 methods to ensure all the water is out of the system, the first is to use the specific pre-coolant prep product, or flush with the waterless coolant itself, then drain and leave to stand, as the water will evaporate, the second being a trick that regular users of waterless coollant recommend rather than spending out on the prep product.
It is still quite expensive, but when compared to the price of a head/engine replacement, it doesnt seem so bad, £60 for 5 litres, and the bongo requiring about 9.5 litres

As far as I am aware none of the vehicle manufacturers use it.
Personally I don't see any advantage.
The less pressure thing I feel is so small it will make no difference, the system is only under a small amount of pressure.
