Re: maybe farewell and soon for sale
Good luck Andy - may the best buyer win what looks to be a fine Bongo
Re: maybe farewell and soon for sale
cheers mike and thanks
last thing I want to do is strip her
and last thing I want to do is strip and swap and get her back to basics
I think I would rather hang the wait out - but lets see

Re: maybe farewell and soon for sale
well ebay turned out to be an eye opener
I havnt stopped typing messages
so all looks good at present
I put her up for a couple of hundred dearer than the fury site
I felt there was room to drop etc
if some one from here mentions where they spotted her - I will honour the price
1st come 1st served
took her work this morning - not started her for a week - brummmm - straight up and didn't falter
loved the auto box - sit back and cruise

Re: maybe farewell and soon for sale
hello guys
thanks for all the interest in my bongo - but she is now sold - 1st viewer
to a youngish family who will certainly make good use of her
his name is luke - so be gentle with him
he is mechanically minded - so will probably do everything himself
I did state if he did a coolant flush - he must look at the bleeding method
its surprising how much info is needed to pass on
he took everything - except the large sub woofer lol,,, he was keen - but it would only get in the way - so she may venture into the t5 one day - who knows
I will still pop by and answer any newbie question from my knowledge tank
I cannot state how good this site has been to me and priceless info ive sort
im not going to jump straight into a vw site - as there is too many to choose from and in fairness - my mechanic bro in law has a t30 van - his is lwb - but basically the same - so my mountain of knowledge will sit with him
so basically goodbye and thanks

Re: maybe farewell and soon for sale
They got themselves a nice van there at a good price too. Best of luck and enjoy the VW.
Re: maybe farewell and soon for sale
hi bud
enjoying the t5 already - but I will state - they are 2 different beasts
t5 manual - it is a van - styling is top notch - can feel too roomy and cold - 1.9 diesel turbo - good mpg already but not as responsive as bongo - but im not there for speed and for 100 quid I can chip the t5 to 130 bhp -- more bhp more fuel
bongo - smooth auto box - feels - smaller and snug - wobbles in winds lol , a nice ride -
t5 will keep her value - just as the bongo - and as the t5 has styling already done - im quids in - nothing to do apart from little mods here and there
yes - luke has paid a fair price for everything - but will always get his money back if he sells - as long as he keeps on top of her
I must admit - rust isn't a problem for the t5,s - or so I am led to believe
but the t5,s will be double the price at almost every angle - you get a lot of bongo for your cash
I think luke new this
and appreciated what he was buying
didn't bat an eyelid and took her straight away
she made the 80-90 mile trip back to her new home no probs - so all sweet

Re: maybe farewell and soon for sale
A nice story with a happy ending. Isn't it strange that we want our Bongos to go to a good home - can't think of many vehicles like that.
Re: maybe farewell and soon for sale
yes - very true
after taking care of her for 9 years - your bound to feel a little tied to her
I think I will be the same with the t5 - but I think she will need less care and attention etc
when I test drove the bongo with luke - sat around 66-70 mph on the motorway
I kept stating - if you want to go faster - that's up to you and shown him that she went straight to 80 with no theatrics etc
but stated - WHY would you want to do that to her lol
treat her well !! it was like I was selling a puppy or something
yes we do get attached lol
I did state about the hold button - do not press when going at speed - why ? what will happen ?
I have no idea - I said - you only need it when going up steep hills and the revs get low
it takes a few goes to master it - but only at slow speed and struggling revs
I laughed after and said - she will eject you from the seat lol
that's after the gearbox drops on the floor lol
I am not sure what will happen - probably nothing - but I did it once and she revved up like a bugger - too soon - or too late
didn't like it - but got to be an expert in the end
and always pat her on the steering wheel after every journey - its the law lol

Re: maybe farewell and soon for sale
as the t5 is german
if it lets me down - it will have to be shouted at and told about being efficient etc lol
I used to work for a german company and still have a lot to do with them
no point patting it - lol - you have to be masterfull
I will be like basil and the faulty towers scene with the tree branch

Re: maybe farewell and soon for sale
HELLO ALL
Well one week into the t5
happy already with the fuel consumption
worked out I was getting 30 to the gallon just poodling round town
I think I was only getting 20-22 round town in the bongo
ride still feeling smoth - but isn't it funny how you notice squeaks and vibrations after time
1st day I picked her up - I did 200 miles for the journey home
felt like a new van - lol - now I hear allsorts - not that they are bad ones -
as same with the bongo - I have larger wheels on the t5 - normal are 16'' I have 19,s
my bro in law has stuck with his 16,s and told me to watch my fuel consumption
I guess it could only be better than what I am currently getting
like most vehicles - I guess the proof in the pudding is a longish run
the t5 has an alpine head unit with phone connection etc
I managed to blue tooth music from my phone direct to the unit - happy days
it also had a usb connection at the front - so micro usb stick ordered and music will be installed
I have gone right off cd,s
roof rails are now fitted
I went with a cheaper option as I didn't know how I would feel about them - I didn't want to do £150 plus and didn't like the look
I will try and get a picture up asap
lol - you lot may say im in the wrong club lol
im in my comfort zone right here lol ,
but if told so - I will scurry off into the night

Don`t scurry anywhere m8. Post up da pixs.
Got myself a set of chrome roof rails from a Peugeot estate ready for the Wasp. Offered them up and they look neat, takes the eye away from the solar panel.

Re: maybe farewell and soon for sale
Plenty of Bongones still here, and all very welcome.
VWs (and any other vehicles) welcome at all Meets, too.
More than once I've known peeps ask for advice on other makes here and someone usualy knows the answer, all with a friendly smile.
