Head Bolts torque 2l petrol

Post by Rutger » Wed Sep 21, 2016 9:17 pm

Hello Everybody

I am currently putting the head back on my 2001 2litre petrol Mazda Bongo.

I have found a lot of information on this site and am amazed at how much detail fixes are explained.

One thing i am wanting to verify.
To what torque setting do i tighten the head bolts on my engine?
and then to what degree do i tighten these after that?

I am assuming for every type of engine something else goes so am asking to ensure i am reading information correctly.

I have posted in the past with issues and always recieved great help.
I am almost through these tough times! hopefully have my Bongo back on the dutch roads in no time (:

I am looking forward to reading replies!
Thank you!!

FE engine.
Make sure you have cleaned the threads of all the bolts first and run each in and out a few times each before placing the head on. Dont lube the bolts. Blow out the female threads with an airline before you fit the bolts and make sure there are no tight spots on the threads.
Gasket then head then.
Start at the centre bolts 1 & 2 then work out wards in the pattern below.

8 4 1 5 9
7 3 2 6 10

Do it in four stages evenly so set up your wrench for four different progressive settings to arrive at a final setting of 8.5 kg/m,

Adendum.
Once set you do not need to re-tighten or recheck torques.
