I've just become the proud owner of a 2.5 diesel 4x4 full time drive camper van.
Question 1. Where do i get a maintenance manual from?
Question 2 I need to replace the alternator as the bearings have gone and its not charging either. Where is the best place to buy one? I live near Farnborough Hampshire.
Questio 3 More importantly what are the correct type of batteries to install in the engine compartment. The two I have are Bosch S4 026 batteries and are looking old and might have been damaged by the u/s alternator . So this is why i'm looking to replace the batteries and they might not even be the correct ones.

Re: Replacing the two batteries from the engine compartment
When you say "camper van" are you saying it is converted with cooker / sink / fridge etc:..??
Some Bongos have two starter batteries .. as you are saying both batteries have the same number I would check ..
Usually a Camper as a starter battery (drivers side) and a leisure battery on the passengers side and the battery internals are different..

There are two types of manual;
User Manual
Service manual both are available from the shop http://bongoland.co.uk/product-category/manuals/
Several sources for Alternators, it might be worth considering getting getting your re-conditioned
BF Shop http://bongoland.co.uk/product-category/electrics/
AVA Leisure http://mazdabongo.com/?s=Alternator&post_type=product
Bongo Spares http://www.bongospares.co.uk/shop/engine/alternator/
and plenty of others.
Yes as Mike says above sounds like you may have a dual Starter Battery setup used on the Northern Japan versions where -40°C is known!
In which case you will need to investigate fitting a Split Charge Relay and a swap loom to divert the required vehicle circuits as well as anything else you want in a conversion over to the LB. Kits are available, but do check for this problem http://igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/view ... 21#p681521
