New petrol engine needed

Post by andyinkent » Sun Aug 21, 2016 10:50 pm

Not sure if this should be in techie stuff, but my friend's Dorset-based Bongo (petrol V6) has blown after overheating. She's a disabled single mum, and has been, basically, ripped off by an unscrupulous dealer. We badly need a (pref.recon) engine, as her mechanic's loth to start dismantling the engine, hoping it's only a blown gasket (or 2), with no other damage, as he could be opening a whole can of worms.
Does anyone have any idea where we could be looking? The only one currently on eBay is a rather unrealistic price.
Thanks!

Oh dear. Sorry to hear this.

An overheated V6 is unlikely to need a whole new engine, but George at Bongospares will supply and ship.

If the garage won't diagnose the problem it may well be worth moving the vehicle to a more helpful and Bongo savvy place. Seriously.
Take a torch, toilet roll, and tea bags.

V sorry to hear this and agree with Bob and Brian. Need to find out why it overheated and exactly what the damage is.
