So, I aquired this new shape Tintop a couple of days ago. & I' poking around it like you do....
It has these double headlights behind one lens? The outer side (dipped beam.) is brilliant white to which I see no way to access should a bulb blow..? Unusually it has a level adjuster too on the dash.. The main beam Is a standard yellow though the dips are great, I haven't needed main. (& now oncoming yet has given me grief..)
But the question is the side light. It "cohabits" in the main beam reflector.. I intend to change for an LED? I can unplug it at the back, but the standard side lamp bulb don't come with it..
Any experience. Or ideas...??
Thanx in advance...

Re: 02 tintop headlight conundrum.
Xenons? Our van has them, bloody great they are.
Re: 02 tintop headlight conundrum.
Does anyone know if the early pre facelift models were available with factory xenons ? If so has anyone retro fitted them ?
Its something I would like to do, I have aftermarket HID's just now but they are not very good, the main beam flash function doesn't work very well as its the same bulb as the dipped beam. As HID's take a second or two to 'warm up' the flash function is fairly useless unless the headlamps are already on. Apart from that the dipped beam is great but would prefer factory if possible.

I thought that's what they were...! Never had a vehicle with them fitted before. They are ruddy great. Don't really need a main beam?ade33 wrote:Xenons? Our van has them, bloody great they are.
Though I was going to LED the "sidelight" bulbs. & use a whiter main & fogs.. Just to match the colour shade up...
With regards to retro fitting on a pre "facelift" model though.? I have seen face lift lamps successfully fitted to older models in the "pimp my Bongo" section years ago. But the grill, bumper & strip twix lights & bumper needed face lift updating to accommodate the more V like scoop line of the lamps??
I've even seen a Japanese pimp using BMW lamps & grill..?! I wonder if that vehicle ever made it to the UK? Lol
Blimey. I forgot.. Someone living in Spain? Used Seat Ibiza lamps to switch the beam direction for the right hand side of the road..
Back on the subject of these xenons then.. What's the cost of replacing should the need arise??

It's a Bongo, it'll be a fortune I'd expect, if you can even get them...jaylee wrote:Back on the subject of these xenons then.. What's the cost of replacing should the need arise??
Re: 02 tintop headlight conundrum.
Been doing a bit of reading regarding how these HID Xenons work..
When/if the time comes.. I'm positive there are other Mazda models from that era of manufacturing that will cross reference bits.
I've done similar component matches on my old 95 plate..
