Hi all,
Just noticed that the glass panel in the roof of our bongo has shattered but is still in place and not leaking which is good news. Has this happened to anyone else and are there any good fixes or is it just the case of getting another roof?
Thanks

Re: roof window
What type of roof does the vehicle have.?
Re: roof window
It is the elevating camper type roof.
Re: roof window
Shouldn't need to change the whole roof !
I believe the glass is bonded to the roof panel, so in theory you should be able to knock out the old glass and bonding and re glue another in place using Sikkaflex adhesive mastic.
If you cannot find the glass consider use a clear ABS plastic cut shape. Check out your plastic supplier in your area or there is a company I have used based in Wimbledon,Abbey Plastics, who will cut from a template and post to you.
I had this sort of thing happen on an old Peugeot I owned for a while.
What I did in that instance was to get some clear Fablon from the DIY and carefully applied it to the under side of the sunroof while someone supported the out side, and then another on the outside.
It was a temporary fix more from the safety point of view. Sold it three years later with the temporary fix still in place!
Would keep the van usable until you sorted the replacement.

Re: roof window
Thank you that sounds like a good plan, our local bongo garage suggested using window tint film on both sides as a temporary fix which I guess is similar to the fablon?
Re: roof window
Brilliant 'Blue Peter' fix.

Re: roof window
Not sure on the window tint, adhesive wise. Just make sure someone is the other side supporting and dont use too much pressure.
Good luck.
Good luck.
Re: roof window
Call me old fashioned but I would remove the Broken Glass window ASAP if not sooner.
