Rear washer has packed up

Post by Tony x » Sun Aug 14, 2016 11:44 pm

Hello,
After working just fine, our rear window washer has stopped working.
There's no sound to be heard when I (try to) operate it - no pump struggling to work could be heard.
The washer fluid bottle is full.
Front washers work fine.
I disconnected the pipe that goes to the actual sprinkler bit thing just above the rear door but no fluid came out when I flicked the washer switch.
Before I hunt out the rear washer motor to check it and it's connections, I was wondering if this problem may have been encountered before and if there was a likely culprit at to why it's stopped working.
Cheers.

Ps - would this be a problem come MOT time?

Mine was down to pump failure. One cheap ebay pump later and it was all sorted.

The two pumps are mounted front and rear of the water bottle, the rear one being higher quite often its the connections that are the problem.

Thanks for the quick replies...this is such a good forum which, of course, is due to the members that inhabit it.
I'm away for a few days from tomorrow plus I have a motorbike gearbox to sort out as a priority but, as always I'll post the outcome when I get the problem sorted.
Cheers,
Tony

That was very helpful.
Unfortunately, despite having good fortune with rebuilding electric motors in the past, I couldn't get the rear pump motor to work. The shaft was seized, I managed to get it to rotate but still no luck.

Now I know where the pipes and electrics go I think, when it comes to the rear motor, I should be able to replace it without removing the washer bottle itself. I'm hoping the leisure battery, the leisure battery upper (horizontal tray) and maybe the vertical support for the tray is all that needs to be taken off.
