Curtains not going up and down

Post by Cesc » Tue Jul 26, 2016 10:15 pm

The electric curtains in the passenger side of my Bongo are not working. It is not the relay and the power gets to the individual switches of each curtain but none of the 2 motors work.

The driver side curtains are working fine.

Any idea of what can be done?

There isn't any relay involved ? There are simply two switches in circuit to each blind, the first is on the front Dashboard, this operates the blinds in pairs nearside or Offside, then individual switches near each blind. A common fault is that the front switches get very dusty, try operating the front switches several times or better still give the switches a squirt of contact cleaner, you may find this cures the problem.

Although my curtains worked electrically, I just pulled them up and down manually for years, never did them a bit of harm.

Just a quickie and not trying to hijack the thread but..
Mine is fitted with manual blinds,is there a recommended way of releasing them?
We just give them a good knock and of they go but it is noisy, trying to wiggle them from side to side makes even more noise on a quite site.
We are daybreak risers and releasing them can sound like an AK 47 on auto at 4.30 in the AM.

My blinds stopped working on one side almost a week after getting our van. Mine turned out to be the front switches as g8dhe has mentioned. I took the switches out and took them to pieces (watch for small parts) and cleaned the contacts with wire wool, worked a treat after that.

Never heard of them being noisy. :?

We normaly just hold lightly middle/bottom and gently push or pull, very little effort.

Not tried the push and pull done the side to side wiggle tho
Ours seem to be on a ratcheting type thing and its this that makes the noise. When I get back to the van will try the push and pull as that makes sense.
