Hi we have just bought a 2.5 petrol bongo and have had a side conversion carried out.
Whilst looking under the passenger side seat I noticed that a coolant hose, number 9705 had been folded back on itself and plugged.
Would this have been something that has been done because of the conversion works?
Having had a bongo before, which had overheating problems and cracked head because of it, I am a bit paranoid about our new one going the same way.
I have bought a TM2 temperature alarm and was looking to see if I could fit it myself, but think I will get a garage that knows exactly what they are doing ( hopefully ) to fit it for me.
Whilst on here, due to the side conversion, it is quite difficult to get a good look under the drivers seat. Is there an easy way/knack for lifting this seat back or does the seat really need to come out to work properly on that side of the engine?

Re: Coolant hose crimped and plugged
You sure it's a 2.5 petrol?
If it's a diesel like mine, Sounds like the bleed hose (attach funnel as per YouTube bleed). Should come from a 3 way on the head. Plugged and folded back on itself is how my bleed hose is.

My 2.5 diesel has the exact same setup. Pretty sure it is standard.
I think the 2.5V6 has the same bleed hose but the 2.0L doesn't.

Yes V6 has the same bleed hose across the top passenger side. Its only the 2l petrol that is self bleeding with the bleed hose back to the de-gassing tank - mind you I keep wondering if it would work with the other engines as well!

Thanks all, that's put my mind at rest.

Any mechanical reason why it wouldn't work. Mind you I don't have the sphericals to try!g8dhe wrote:- mind you I keep wondering if it would work with the other engines as well!
Remember reading a very interesting thread on the degassing tank.

Re: Coolant hose crimped and plugged
Given that at the junction the bleed hose initially runs upwards to allow air coming out of the engine to rise into the tube, then if it leads across back towards the de-gassing tank, the air would rise/be pushed into the tank, same process as when bleeding it but into the air ...
