rear heater connections

Post by Brianmci » Tue May 31, 2016 8:01 pm

Evening all,

My Bongo failed its MOT recently because of some corrosion on the sills and rear heater floor. Having removed all the interior, cut out the offending rust, remade the droppers, floor pan and sills, I've now just put the rear heater back in and connected up all the hoses. Now I'm left with a pipe from the heater with no hose to put onto it. I'm thinking it didn't have a hose in the first place but I need to check. See picture below:

Can someone have a quick look underneath theirs and see if they have the same thing please?

The other thing I'm stuck with is, I've watched the video of how to fill the coolant back up but I don't have the hose where the funnel should go. Can someone let me know where bleed hose goes on the engine please?

Thanks in advance.

its the condensation drain bud. :) no pipe is fitted to it, it just lets moisture out from the rear air con.

if no bleed pipe is fitted then maybe its had a new head on it, some fitters dont fit the ness pipe attachment so it may make bleeding by the vid method harder, some cut into the little turbo hose and attach a T piece then fit a pipe to the T.

if you need help on how to do this just shout.

That's what I thought! I should have taken a picture before I took it all out but hindsight is a wonderful thing!!

Cheers.

I think my Bongo has had a new head in the past. I know it's had a new turbo as I've just fitted one. So, can I cut the turbo coolant pipe, fit a tee and attach a hose to it then?

yes the little thin one that usually has silver foil round it that goes into the top of the turbo, think its about 10mm, cut it in about half or nearer the head then fit the T piece then about half a meter of bleed pipe, then a blank in the end etc. it works well if everything else is in good condition.

this shows a variant along the same theme.
