Central Locking Problem

Post by Ian » Sun Feb 04, 2007 9:21 pm

Posted on behalf of Louisa:

"The other morning my central locking stopped working. I've had both passenger and driver doors off and can see nowhere that the wiring is touching the chassis. I've checked both the door gromets. The passenger side seemed a little worn but I checked the wiring and could not see any exposed wiring. I've covered it up in elecrtical tape now. Please help me I appear to have run out of options, do I need a new rocker switch for the door? I've checked the fuse and its fine! Please help."

Central locking seems to link into the drivers window switch {or is it coincidence that they have gone on the fritz together :-k }

Try cleaning the contacts there if that doen't work, could be new unit tme.

I've given up so am on the lookout for a replacement unit, should fix the windows too !

Try what I did first, when you take off the plastic corrugated tubing from the wires that go from the pillar to the door examing each wire carefully, there are loads of them and at first I though they were all ok but.. separate each wire ( they are very thin remember) when I did that I found 3 had parted company, a yellow one which controls the central locking and two green and black which I repaired even though I could not find what they were for. As I said they are very thin and there are loads of them in the loom so start there. Good luck and happy motoring.

I checked both doors and took all the protective covering off and electrical tape but everything seems intact. Have now checked with a vehicle electrician and they seem to think I need a "door shutting central locking rocker switch on the drivers side!" Have emailed some Bongo brokers but no luck, any ideas where I could get one? :cry:
