I understand that 10W30 is the standard oil for a Bongo, but understand that some people run with 5W40.
What's the pro's and cons of going with 5W40 instead of 10W30?
Cheers
Tony

Presuming you have a Diesel vehicle , Castrol and Comma both recommended 5w-30 or 10w-40 for the WLTD engine, Depending on the mileage/age and condition of your engine.Over 50000/60000 miles I would go for the latter.
Re: Oil: 10W30 or 5W40
Thanks. It's a Diesel. States about 55K on the speedo but not sure if that is miles or KM (the speedo card ready MPH, but don't think the mileometer is changed to read miles).
Bongo Fury FAQs states,
"In standard UK operating temperatures you should use 10W-30 oil. In colder climes you should use 5W-30. If you find these difficult to obtain, then 10W/40 or even 15W/40 will do."
As most of my Bongoing is likely to be in the warmer months, I think I'll go with 10W30 - which I understand to be a bit thinner than 10W40. Being thicker (at 100c), does the 10W-40 offer more protection?

If (as we all are) looking for that bit "extra protection" I would recommend Castrol Magnatec 10W-40 or go with your preference Magnatec 10w-30.
At the end of the day oil is like Whiskey ,none Bad just some better than others.
The cheapest thing you can put in your engine is Water and Oil , the dearest is None.
