replacing the rocker plate cover

Post by claireb » Sun May 08, 2016 8:38 pm

Does anyone know how much a rocker cover gasket (rocker plate cover) cost and how much it would cost to fit it.

its wise to get the kit which is the tubes that fit around the bolts as they can get crushed, and the top rubber type seals that go under the washers, these are the seals around bolt tops, these harden with age.

part 10-237 on this drawing.

Always help to mention what engine you have ;). Assuming it's for your 2 litre petrol, this is the diagram you need: http://lushprojects.com/bongopartsmk2/c ... mgno=.html

£21.90 from here: http://www.mazdabongo.com/catalog/engin ... trol-95-03

8) Yes for the 2l petrol. Thank you everyone for the advice. When mot out garage said around 20£ but the time it takes to fit it would be the cost as it's a long job. And it's not really a prob and worth doing. We are thinking get it sorted anyway. And wanted to know peoples views on costing. Thanks for the diagram as well. My partner did say maybe worth buy it and doing himself. I will show him the picture. And watch his face. Thank you

The RCG can be purchased from your local Motor Factors or EBay for about £12.00,the real cost would be Labour.

If the RCG is leaking (weeping) it might be worthwhile giving it a wee nip up being careful not to overtighten.

Me again. Thank you for the links for bongo parts. I'm also looking for a tow bar for my bongo 2003. Iv seen that on another thread that you can buy A1 from the bongo shop but I have looked and can't seem to find one. Also just looked on the links you have sent me and can't find one. Can any one point me when n the right direction? We have looked online at tow bar companies with fitting all seem different prices. Just for tow bar with electric kit. Then maybe get it fitted at garage. Iv seen the A1 is best for the bongo.

Thank you Ian. Will have a look. Is this for a bongo 2003?
Just ben quoted from our garage 150£?to fit rocker cover with us buying the new cover plate. Could I ask where was the garage that charged 10£ please as might be cheaper to travel.
And yes it's just weeping. May see if we can just nip it then. Thank you

The towbar will fit all Bongos, but if you have a body skirt some cutting may be required

Cheers Ian yes we have a skirt and have read that cutting would need to be done. We are looking at a few quotes on line for fitting ect. And asking our garage and he is getting back to us tomorrow on that one.
another question we have a 2l petrol. And will be towing a caravan under 850kg with nose weight. We have had lots of different feed back on this some say never do it because blow the gear box ect on hills. Some say no probs. What is your advice.
