Horn replacement - Help

Ok, I have a problem.

My horn unit is bust and my MOT is coming up fast. I posted on here before for advice and have tried to obtain a replacement part from the suppliers but so far I’ve come up with a blank.

Someone mentioned there was a Fiamma horn that may work. Could anyone fill me in on the model, and if it’s easy to mount or if there are some gotchas I need to tell the garage about?

I would have thought that any horn will do - sounds like a visit to a scrapyard.

They are very easy to fit and come complete with the relay. About £16 in any decent accessory shop. (such as A1 Autostores)
They will connect to the original wires (I put mine in without the realay which is fina as long as you don't keep the horn button pressed for mor than about 3 seconds. if you do you will blow the fuse.) and brackets.

Got my horn from Halfords!!
Cost was about £12.00
Really easty to fit in about 20 mins although I did take of the front grille and headlight for ease of access.
When you have got in there is loads of space to fit it and the horn is a lot louder!

I fitted a replacement horn I bought for £12 from a spares shop, the original being too Japanese and polite. Removing the light and grille was easy but ended up fitting it from underneath - either fit L/N to the correct prongs or earth the N depending on which model you buy. I tried it out for the first time last week on a woman hermetically sealed in her BMW X5 who didn't see me to her right on a roundabout. All I can say it that it works; she saw me, pedestrians fell over, birds fell out of trees etc. Worth getting.

I fitted a pair of Fiamm horns in place of the original - an easy job - you don't need the relay supplied, as the Bongo already has one fitted as standard. Go for it - they sound great!

OIC! That's why my fuse didn't blow when I was showing my displeasure to a Chav in a pink Escort convertible the other day!

Fitting them fronm underneath is so much easier than grille/lamp removal!

I stopped off at Halfords on the way home last night and picked up a standard 12v electric horn. I'll fit it Sunday.

Was very tempted by the Big Twin Two Tone version they did but wasn't sure how much space was provided underneath for mounting so chickened out.

Now does anyone know where I can one play plays Dixie?

I think that was meant as a joke wasn't it? I believe the use of musical airhorns as the 'main' horn were outlawed way back in the seventies. Shame I always fancied some myself.

for referance purpose the horns on a mazda 323f n reg are the same as bongo.

This may seem like a pointless question but... with a dixie horn, do you have to give the horn a quick press and it automatically plays the whole DER DA DER DER DO DAH DA DO DER DER DER DER, or, do you just get a quick DER DA DER DER?? I was pondering this phenomenon whilst watching the dukes of hazzard some weeks ago...hmm.
