Resistor (under pass. seat) ohms value?
Hi All
Having some transmission troubles - not changing up when it should and hold light flashing (see here... http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... =3&t=71627)
I'm very dependent on the forum as I'm in Slovakia and the garage is less than familiar with Bongos.
Q: There is a resistor under the passenger seat, labelled on Lush Projects, as ref 18-831, Mazda part number G61318831.
The garage say it is reading as 12ohms resistance but we have no idea if this is correct or not.
Is anyone able to test this for me to know what the correct reading should be?
I have a 2wd 1997 2.5TD auto.
Many thanks in advance

The garage have just called...
Now when you press the hold button it owrks and the hold light stays solid, but once you get into 3rd or 4th gear it starts flashing again.
To me this could be because after switching on the engine, it hasn't yet found the fault, hence works as normal in 1st/2nd but then it finds the fault and starts flashing
Any ideas anyone?

Yes that value is correct 12.6Ώ just checked on my vehicle it uses the same part number for the same function despite being a V6!

Were you able to check the fault codes on the HOLD light flashing, as Alacrity flagged up on your other post. The guy really knows his stuff on autoboxes and has a Bongo.

Unfortunately not. I'm in Slovakia and they don't have anything to read the diagnostics box.mikeonb4c wrote:Were you able to check the fault codes on the HOLD light flashing, as Alacrity flagged up on your other post. The guy really knows his stuff on autoboxes and has a Bongo.
Is there a way to read it with the diagnostics tool?

Hopefully Ady or Alacrity can confirm but i thought diagnostics boxes didn't work for Bongos. The diagnostic just involves noting the sequence of flashes of the HOLD button and looking up what the significance means. There may be a procedure for getting the HOLD light to flash diagnostically - hold the button in while turning ignition on or something like that.snowrat wrote:Unfortunately not. Fingers crossed, hope there is.mikeonb4c wrote:Hopefully Ady or Alacrity can confirm but i thought diagnostics boxes didn't work for Bongos. Will try and call at the garage and try that out, hopefully someone can confirm

I think its not so much that any diagnostic flashes will provide a magical pointer to the solution, more that its a stone that should be turned over sooner rather than later in order to gather any clues that may lie under it. Good luck - you can't help but feel that the core autobox is probably fine but something (simple) involved in the control of it needs identifying and sorting. Methodical investigation/elimination required etc. Good luck.

Thanks Mike.
We are indeed slowly eliminating different controls from the conundrum but having to pay for a hire car at the same time.
Was supposed to be heading home soon too.

Re: Resistor (under pass. seat) ohms value?
Sorry to butt in here but out of curiosity what is that resistor under the passenger's seat for ??

Re: Resistor (under pass. seat) ohms value?
It lowers the current to a solenoid in the ATF, its has a value of 12.6Ω and uses connector H-02 in a V6.

Ta, would never have guessed it had anything to do with the autobox. Normally these type of external resistors are for heater resistors or for dim dip headlamp systems.

Apparently they are also used as MAZDA Glow Plug RESISTORS.
