Rewiring Stereo to run off Leisure Battery

Post by markmck » Sun Jan 28, 2007 7:09 pm

Hi all

I have just successfully wired up a leisure battery to operate internal lighting and a feed to my soon tobe built kitchen unit.

The stereo is still running off the ignition. Can someone point me in the right direction to alter this so that it also runs off the leisure battery

Thanks for you help

The last post in this thread has a wonderful picture of the colours of a radio feed plug.

You need to find my step-by-step instructions here on the forum that show you how to reroute all sorts of things that are fed from the fuse board by the drivers' right knee to run off the leisure battery instead.

Too late tonight for me to do a search!

The easiest way to do this is to attach a cigarette lighter plug on a lead of suitable length and plug it into the rear 12v Power socket. That will charge you battery whilst running and power lights and radio when the ign is off. Put a 20 amp fuse between plug and battery for safety.
