Hi there,
Has anyone fitted an universal fuel gauge sender unit, they seem a lot cheaper (£30) than the Mazda one (£150)?
Cheers
Andy

Not fitted one, but before you spend cash double up the earth to the existing unit, a very common fault.

Re: Universal fuel gauge sender unit
just to clarify bobs post a little, try bolting a new earth wire from the tank lip to the body this usually corrects weird readings you may have been seeing.
there is another earth thats sometimes needed on the top of the sender unit, you may wish to try this.

Hi Andy,as I understand you have tried all the usual fixes, and you need a fuel gauge sender unit for Your Freda.
It would help if you could you post a link or more information on the (£30)universal sender unit that you are thinking of using.
Normally senders are calibrated to the particular vehicle tanks and the aperture/flange need to be compatible.
But it is possible to modify the flange arrangement and adjust the float assy.
