Fitting new aircon belt

Post by cmm303 » Sat Mar 19, 2016 9:03 pm

New aircon belt is too tight to get round pulleys. Expected. I've seen advice here to blip the engine to run the belt into the pulley groove.

I have not yet got the alternator on which makes tensioning the aircon belt really easy once I've got it on the pulleys.

Will it do any harm blipping the engine without the alternator in place? Or is there another way of getting a new belt on?

where did you get the belt mate, ive found a few ive fitted for peeps are just to small, some you can lever on like you would with a bike tyre but watch the pulleys can snap a lump out of them.

ian got me some from somewhere ---------- bigger special ones if this helps.

Source unknown! Bought it with many other spares from an ex Fury/Bongo owner. He was a meticulous chap.
