'Stuck' revving problem - V6 Petrol

Seems a shame that many people post problems .. but not the cures .. !!

Fair point but if they are like me I like the advice on here because it is usually quick and accurate and I need that due to pressure of my work. As such never think to pop back and report results Sooo sorry must try harder!

Had a very similar problem earlier this year, turned out the HT leads were breaking down when the engine reached operating temp, did not show up until car had been running for 15 minutes then had to limp it home with no power.

Ok I am now back in the land of the living!

Mine turned out to be a problem with the LPG? was hunting and lumpy on gas idle and fine on petrol. We are still working on it and its been back a few times. We gets it spot on for a few weeks and starts again for no known reason. we are now thinking it may either be a failing component on the gas system or on the van electrical system itself? although if it were you would think that it would be lumpy on both??.

i would start at the distributor or the throttle sensor.

this problem was only solved this summer just gone after intermittently re-occuring since I originally posted in 2013 (!). We moved house in the interim so the Bongo was intermittently on and off the road.

For what it's worth - replaced distributor cap, leads and the crank shaft position sensor. That and all the steps listed previously. One of, all of which seems to have solved the problem...

.and ditto. That and there not being a 'definitive' solution. Only seemed to be iterative fixes and then reoccurrence
