Long coolant pipe replacement

Post by robdrinky » Thu Dec 17, 2015 4:15 am

I anticipate replacing our metal coolant pipes in the near future as they are corroded, has anybody considered or actually replaced them with flexible hose(maybe Silicon type).
Is this feasible?any thoughts guys

this is deffo do-able. each end of the steel pipes has a flexy rubber short section on there already so in theory just remove the rubber then make the steel replacements longer, this replaces the rubber pipes at the same time and removes 2 joints per pipe length. the only problem with this is that each long pipe has a T piece in it so you will have to get some suitable T pieces and then make a joint using clips #-o . as the steel pipes have welded T pieces. the nearside metal pipe also has the very small pipe welded to it that links to the expansion tank, this could be a little more difficult to sort.

all in all i would advise that the best way is the way it was made, just replace them with steel.
