Water getting inside...

Post by xt600 » Mon Nov 23, 2015 11:15 pm

I've noticed recently that the n/s rear seatbelt is wet when pulled out. Today I found a puddle of water in the back corner. Can't see any obvious places the rain is getting in but does anyone else have any experience of this, and are there any known issues with water leaks?

Is it possible you have a rust-through on your inner wheel arch in that area? That might allow water to work its way indoors.

No. it's all spotless there. It's coming from higher up somewhere...

Hmmmm. Don't recall hearing of this problem before so can't offer any more suggestions (I only mentioned rust through as I've just dealt with one on mine). It would be interesting to hear what it turns out to be (because hopefully it will get tracked to source!) so good luck and please keep us posted as it might help the next leaky Bongo owner.

Just some things to check... gutter for rust, tailgate seal and condition, rear window seal and fastener, tent seal and skylight seal if aft, drain tubes if tin top. It might also be worthwhile removing trim to have a look.

Good Luck.

ive seen them leak in the front of the aft when rain drives under the seal of the tent or if it has been used in bad weather, it can get into the roof space cavity and come through the front interior light panel, maybe check for signs by removing the front light unit, the channel it mounts into runs across the front then down the sides.

or.

have the 2 black metal loops been removed that are secured with 2 bolts each that are mounted just under the roof, some remove them and its maybe letting water in the old bolt holes.
