have a look at the negative terminals, the one from the battery neg to the inner wing, then the 2 earth straps, one on the engine and one on the gearbox, not a big job to strip them off and clean them up and make sure they are tight.

started well from a jump start could be that its earthing through the starter car system and the jump leads. how did you connect up when you jump started it, via 2 leads from the bongo battery to starter battery or neg lead from a bongo body earth.
