Nope the M1 is ideal combined with the X70 PSU plenty of power and adequate charging rate provided the cables from the battery to the unit are well rated to prevent voltage drop.

Managed to order an M1 for tomorrow morning delivery, and sourced a shop for water supply parts (South London not good for camping supplies), but now what is this X70 that you talk of, this is the first I have heard of this bit of kit at £120, do I need it ?

Do you have a mains inlet socket on the vehicle ? Or do you want to be able to plugin to hook up point on a camping site ?
If you do then it would make sense to have a PSU to power the internal 12 volt circuits and charge the battery when you static camped.
If you already have an inlet socket on the van then you will also have a small consumer unit, probably in a cupboard, and mains available to which the PSU can be connected to. If not then I think you need to understand a little more about what your asking for as cutting into the side of the van and adding all the necessary parts is probably not simple DIY!

Just got back from our little holiday. We got the M1 running upto a point, the LED lights did work but after the first night they were much dimmer. The running water did not work, I will take it to a garage. Thanks for all the advice and help, when we bought the van it did have sockets for mains hook up though not a socket cut into the van, there are plug sockets inside but that is for another day.

Hi, I would highly recommend taking the van to a Caravan/Motorhome supplier/specialist. They are more likely to be able to easily sort you out as this sort of situation is bread & butter stuff to them.
Just a pity your not near to me as I worked for a major motorhome supplier as an habitation technician & it would only take a few hours to have you set up exactly as you want.
