Is BP dropping the supply of Autogas?

Yes BP are removing all the LPG equipment from Company Owned Sites,it is not viable for the expense/outlay .

Bizarre - isn't the price supposed to cover their costs!?! And doing it without even consulting the user base and/or without any intervention by a regulator seems like the free market gone mad. Where is this news coming from?

Yes I wondered about that. And of course BP will be especially sensitive about risk of further reputational damage following the Big Rig Gulf Fire. H&S will be the death of us all if we're not careful? Discuss?

Thank you for reminding me why I prefer diesel to petrol or LPG.

I reckon It's far safer having a robust / certified thick steel LPG tank on a motor with all the built in safety features .. than sitting on a thin steel (or plastic) tank with 65 litres of volatile liquid ..

Whilst LPG at 25°C is 110 psig that's 7.6 Bar.

That's why I prefer diesel, it isn't volatile.

Also petrol doesn't need to be under pressure to do a lot of damage, just on it's own petrol vapour is around 1000 times more explosive than gunpowder.

Clear as mud. The LPG kit takes up quite a bit of space with above ground tanks. It could be safety rules as well. Everything has probably to be expensively replaced every few years.

My local Shell Garage has just replaced its LPG pump, so hopefully I am safe for a bit. would like to find out if there is a policy. Perhaps sales are dropping, although there is always a queue for the LPG pump. Just as diesel is now coming under fire for emissions as well.

It could be an expensive journey to Looe next month as the main places I fill up on the way are BP.

I know I should have introduced myself... but I wanted to reply.

Shell and Calor have a joint venture company - operating under the 'Autogas' brand, so Shell aren't going to drop it!

Are you sure as Shell is the latest garage to drop it in my area! I now have the choice of Morrisons or run it on petrol! Very inconvenient, as it's half hour out of my way but one by one they've all dropped off, 5 BP's and now the Shell garage as well.

If you can let me know where your local Shell is, I can look into it for you.

The Shell estate is roughly 50/50 split between independents and Shell owned stations - obviously, the indies are able to do whatever they want with their LPG installations - but I'm not aware of it being removed on company sites.
