Hi chaps,

just bought myself a 96 N reg bongo.

2.5 auto diesel w/

electric blinds
Kitchen
electric roof tent
Bull bars + lights
soft close door.
Coolant level mod.

It needs a little TLC to get it clean and usable.

Anyone fancy a cuppa? Could use a expert to give it a once over, and help me make up a list of chores

Raining heavy on and off today.

Cleaning time.



Covers off, last owners were smokers. Seeing how one sponge comes out after a wash, but might end up replacing the sponge.



Side fixed wind out awning.



Believe this one isn't a conversion, but the camper, with full stand up electric roof.



Some of the laminate is pealing, We gonna have a go at replacing the laminate.



5th seat, rare?



Will have a go at removing the front carpets, and using a carpet cleaner on them.#

Clips missing here and there, so why I need a once over and someone maybe can tell me any alternatives to get replacements for them.

Going to remove the front seats and get a upholstery vax cleaner on it otherwise.

Ain't got around to dry run tested the trailer and awnings, fire pit, that came with it

That extra seat looks to be from a Sprinter van, my mates Ex police riot van had a couple in, handy for carrying more people

To be honest I have a professional valeter, I found the best way was to remove the carpets and soak some Auto smart G101 or Brisk on them ( about £12 a gallon) then jet wash off, my over mats came up like new

Looks like it should be a nice machine once valeted. Fit a low coolant alarm if it doesn't already have one. Essential for peace of mind. Welcome, and enjoy

Only cost me £8 quid to rent a carpet cleaner, and wasn't really suitable for the Bongo.

Lightly sprayed and cleaned the foot wells with the cleaning solution to neutralise the odour.

Best stuff was this spray on foam.

Ripped the seats out and did around engine bay carpet too, and seats.

Pressure washed the mats was the best thing (as suggested) then cleaning solution to put a nice smell on them Pretty much come out grey again.

New rear curtain on order, and sponge. Rear seat covers come outta washing machine all nice. Check see if I can wash the roof sleeping mat covers tomorrow.

now ive seen the pics i know that bongo very well (and its previous owner) having done a fair bit of work on it with him in the recent past, it was maintained regardless of cost so you should have many years of happy bongo-ing in it .

Fingers crossed.

Inside was filthy, just dealing with the lack of cleaning. Got most of the smokers smell out now.

Cushions are back and came out nice.

Steering rack replaced and tracked. Oil and filter replaced.

There wasn't any oil in the engine, and the reason why the dipstick wasn't working. from a guess about 5L came out, so I'll check tranny tomorrow.

Looks like a lovely Bongo!
The conversion is almost the same as in mine.

The previous owners of my bongo were not smokers but did have a dog so it took me a while to get rid of the smell of wet dog, not to mention getting rid of the hair even after a valet.

At first I just lit incense sticks and closed all the windows and doors and left it.
When I came to get back in it it smelt divine! I guess with tobacco it's harder to clear as it sticks to everything. I'm sure in time it won't smell - especially if you are changing the foam upholstery.
