Changing sensor screws on Haydn Low Coolant Alarm
Thanks to Jo and Haydn Alarms for 2 new replacement screws for my nearly 9 year old LCA (and for Iain de Bongomeister for the foot courier delivery) . The new screws are longer than the originals, which I'm guessing is good as the area in contact with coolant will be greater, giving longer service life. Certainly, the self-test beep has instantly changed for a rather slurred one to short crisp one. Hopefully the the occasional murmur will also have been disappeared. Here's a pic of old and new - the difference is easy to see (not bad for their age though) (click thumbnail to enlarge):

Something I must look at.
After 8 years mine is giving a second or two's chirp about 4 or 5 minutes after I start. Always gives my heart a little flutter.

I was nervous in case header tank leaked after changing screws but I needn't have been. In any case, I have an LCA to warn me if it doesBob wrote:Something I must look at.

V simple job and well worth doing. Mine was chirping just like yours - its unsettling!

"Unsettling" doesn't begin to describe the feeling when that buzzer sounds.
Jolly glad I've got it, though.

That could well be right, Ady.

Thanks.
Edit: Never done it when warm.
