Rear Aircon blows ambient temperature only

Post by Fassi » Sun Aug 09, 2015 6:51 am

Another aircon query.

Yesterday I also noticed this slight problem. My front aircon works perfectly. The rear seems to blow whatever the outside temperature is. When I had the rear running I had a quick look at where the cooling pipes go into the rear unit underneath. There was a smalll outlet next to the pipes blowing perfectly cool air onto the road. When I turned the rear aircon off it stopped. Do I maybe have a hose missing or possibly some internal seal problem?

Thanks.

So my rear cold air seems to come out this outlet and not into the rear cabin.

That appears to be the condensation drain point for the rear A/C unit. You would expect to get drips of cold water coming out when the unit has been running for a while. I'm wondering if the air control flaps are not working correctly. Have you got sliders or rotary controls on the rear heater unit? If you set the temp adjuster to hot does the output change?

My rear control is the slider one but doesn't seem connected. Maybe something tto do with the side conversion. I turned it on by holding 'rear' on the front control for a few seconds and adjusting from there

Ah, that'll probably be it then. If the orange LEDs dont light up then it's probably not working/connected. You can adjust the fan and temp (I think) from the front but not the vent controls.

Ahaa. Seems obvious now. I can control the vents and fan from the front but not temperature. Seems I need to take the kitchen apart to get into this. Another job on the list. Thanks for the help.
