Front 12v socket

Post by bertiebongo » Tue Aug 04, 2015 6:48 pm

Can anyone help with my front 12v socket?
Rear one is working fine as is radio etc. Only front one is dead.
Removed socket, fuse at rear looks intact.
Can't find a replacement socket anywhere on Ebay, etc.
I bought a new orange one, but its too big and it doesn't fit the connection socket. It was only a couple of quid so not bothered. Just wanna get it working.

Its normally the fusible link that has broken and needs replacing it may look intact but it won't be!;

Thanks, its looks OK, but maybe not. I'll try soldering it tomorrow, see if that works.

12v socket in front now back to life!
Though strangely it works, even without key in ignition. Makes me think it might be getting its power from leisure battery, so I could use while on site to drive an electric cool-box and still be able to get away at end of weekend.
Rear one only works with ignition on.

Whilst its possible that the two sockets have been altered, it would be the first time I've heard of it!
Normally both the sockets, radio supply etc. are all fed from the top row right fuse 15 Amps which is often swung across to the LB.
