Hold light flashing

Post by sotal » Sun Aug 02, 2015 9:20 am

I'm about 350 miles into a 800+ mile journey. Yesterday whilst travelling on the motorway the hold light started to flash and the speedo dropped to zero. The bongo remained driveable and gear changes seemed normal. I pulled off at the next services and switched off and restarted the engine and all worked perfectly.

Is this anything to worry about? Or a temporary glitch?

I remembered there was a fact sheet in the members area but I don't seem to be able to login I have the last email update from the 6th July which gave a new password but it doesn't seem to work from my phone. Has it changed again?

Tried logining into the members area again and it worked this time. Reading the PDF the bit titled lashing it down fitted perfectly! So fingers crossed nothing to worry about. I will get some electrical cleaner/protector sprayspray and spray the gearbox connector. It was raining and there had been a lot of spray off the road.

I seem to recall that a problem with speedo chipping could cause gearbox to get wrong information but I'm not sure about that so you'd have to check. Quick fix if so I believe.

A chipped as been known to cause problems on many JDM imports ..

Some times a faulty chip .. other times poor wiring .. or not connecting the pulse wire down to the ECU that feeds speed information to the auto box ..
JAL Mushroom roof,12/240v, fridge, cooker, sink, LPG V6 .. (written off @ £5500 Nov 2016)
